Circus is Hard on the Body

How My Career as a Performer Caused My Arthritis

As I am confined to my couch recovering from foot surgery for arthritis I have a lot of time to reflect on how I got here.

In this video I talk a little about my background in dance and circus contortion and how my specific issues with my feet and ankles contributed to the arthritis in the long term.

I hope that learning about this can help younger dancers and performers to make better decisions than I did to take care of their bodies, so I also include my three takeaways of things I wish I can done differently in my teens, twenties, and thirties so that my forties would have been a little easier!

As always, feel free to reach out with thoughts or questions. I love hearing from you!

Happy Bendings!
